On Saturday the 17th several bombs went off in the New York and New Jersey area, resulting in many injuries but fortunately no deaths. The article was about the actual bombs and the events leading up to the detonations and the discovery of undetonated bombs. The article also accounted the capturing of suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami after a shootout.
Author: Evan Perez, Shimon Prokupecz, Emanuella Grinberg and Holly Yan. I have never read an article by any of these authors. The authors point of view is pretty non-busiest and informative.
Place and Time: the article was published at 7:07 on September 19. This might affect the article in that more of the suspects may be caught later on after this article was published.
Prior Knowledge: Before I read this article I knew that there had been a bombing in the NYC area, however I did not know how many bombs were placed what they targeted and more details about the bombing. I also was not aware that they had caught one of the members involved. This will make my interpretation of this article more focused on the fact that they caught the suspect rather than the actual bombing.
Audience: This article was written for the general American public, and anyone who might be interested to see the story unfolding behind the bombings. This has a positive and negative affect on the audience; positive because the suspect was caught, negative in that the bombings occurred.
Reason: The article was written to reassure people concerned with the bombings.
The Main Idea: The article is trying to convey that the bomber of NYC and New Jersey
Significance: This article is important in that it shows that the threat of terrorism in the USA is not dormant and is still a very big problem. This also goes to show that the police force was late in stopping the bombing and perhaps next time extra measures can be taken to prevent something like this from happening again.
Synthesis: This article can be draw to the problems of Terrorism and the 9/11 attacks in 2001 showing that Islamic radicals and terrorist groups, and the west are still at odds.
