Bacon vs. Lettuce:
What’s Better for the Earth?
In December
of 2015 a press release stated that Bacon or meat eaters were better for the
environment than Lettuce or vegetarians.
This was horrifying for the science world. Scientist immediately started studying the
data and realized, after a long period of time, that the data was unfounded and
that the reason for the mix up was nothing more than the press trying to get a
jump on a story without checking the validity of the information given. It is a
classic case of the press jumping to conclusions without proper vetting of the
juicy tidbit of information given. It is
kind of how the press acts during political election years also. Reporters live on the edge of getting the
first scoop and they are usually careless with their reporting.
Analysis:
Dan Nosowitz, a reporter for the Modern Farmer magazine,
lays blame for this article as a decline in sales of vegetables for a period of
several months. He very strongly
suggests that the author of the original story is nothing short of a smug
looser trying to scoop another reporter on a story that he did not collet the
facts on. He is very much opinionated about vegetables because of his
association with farming.
I feel that bacon is better than lettuce. Our bodies need protein and bacon supplies
that. Lettuce is more of a roughage and
only helps with our colon and the digestive tract. While it may be important to have that
digestive tract help, if we did not eat the bacon for the protein, we would not
be able to eat just lettuce. We must
have some kind of sustenance with our diets.
Man cannot live by veggies alone.
Man must have bacon, steak, hamburger, ham and any other type of meat
that is real. These imported, fake,
turkey bacon substitutes are not good for our bodies and they taste as bad as
they smell or look.
