(Angelique Flores 9th) Are the Ecuador and Japan earthquakes related?

Summary:
Paul Caruso a geophysicist with the U.S Geological Survey have been doing some research and believe that maybe the Ecuador and Japan earthquakes are related. They have 5 ways the test their belief. 1; they believe they are connected across the ocean. 2; Both the earthquakes occurred in the area of the Ring of Fire. They say its more than coincidental that they just happened to occur two days apart from each other 3; The Earthquakes powers. While both quakes caused major destruction the Ecuador quake was 16 times stronger than the Saturday quake in Japan. 4; This is not the first time Ecuador has experienced a powerful earthquake. January 31, 1906 a magnitude 8.8 earthquake hit on the coast of Ecuador and created a great Tsunami that killed 500- 1,500 people. Also May 14, 1942 another earthquake occurred. The saturday quake was the deadliest quake to hit the nation since March 1987 when a 7.2 temblor killed thousands of people. 5; Powerful quakes like this occur somewhat often. Quakes with magnitudes 7.0 to 7.9 occur about 15 times a year from their research and the bigger earthquakes with magnitudes 8.0 and greater occur about once a year.

Synthesis: I do think it's ironic how both the quakes occurred just a few days apart from each other . I would like to further read into their research when they come to a checkpoint in their work.

  1. I have to wonder if these earthquakes are going to continue around the ring of fire. I hope that no towns are damaged too far.
