Summary: A conservative Christian group has half a million signatures (and counting) from people pledging to boycott Target because of its new bathroom policy. The American Family Association says Target allowing transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice (which might not match up with their birth gender) enables sexual predators. The group says it's potentially harmful because "a man can simply say he feels like a woman" and enter the restroom. Despite this huge backlash, however, Target remains standing by its new policy.
Analysis: I'm proud of Target. First, they de-genderize their toy section. Next, they encourage transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice. They definitely made the right decision to help make transgender people feel more comfortable in public. This can be synthesized to the Civil Right's Movement of the 1950's-60's. African Americans protested peacefully, via different tactics like sit-ins. Transgender people do the same. They fight for their rights just as the African Americans of the Movement fought, and they're slowly but surely making progress.

I understand where they're coming from but I think I'm neutral on this stance. They're right that this could be dangerous for kids going to the bathroom, however they can try it out and I guess if they have too many problems with it they would most likely change it.
