January 2016 has been the month with the largest drift from its average monthly temperature, which is appropriate, seeing that 2015 has been the hottest year on record (because climate change is real, you stupid people). So, what does that mean for the Arctic? Well, ice is melting. However, Arctic amplification, which is when global warming has a more prominent effect of the Arctic, was especially prominent. While we did have El Nino in 2015, that's not the only factor. One thing is for sure, however. Just because it's mostly hitting the Arctic, doesn't mean it won't hit the rest of the world.
Our environment is going downhill. And just like the conservationists fought to create nature reserves, many today are fighting against pollution, but everyday it seems that there is less and less that we can do to reverse its effects. It really does take everybody, and we have to care about the whole world, not just where we live. Global environmental crises don't just happen in isolation, they effect the whole world.
