For the first time in Grammy Awards history, a Broadway musical has performed via satellite. Although the musical theatre fanatics only got to see the first number, it summarizes Hamilton's story in less than 4 minutes. Unlike typical musicals, history is retold through a medium challenging the accepted norm, introducing hip-hop, R&B, and pop. Hamilton has made ground breaking history and is mostly sold out in the Richard Rogers Theatre until 2018. Not only do the fantastic harmonies wow audience members, but also the history is "a testament to his name." Unsurprisingly, the soundtrack won a Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album.
Similar to Hamilton, the new jazz music in the 1920s caught several people off guard. There were several new artists that challenged history. For example, Josephine Baker spent her youth in poverty learning how to dance and trying to make it on Broadway(she found success). Even though conservatives believed that she was too scandalous, Josephine moved to France and became one of the most successful Europe performers. Also, Duke Ellington was quite the lady killer but composed several masterworks that topped the charts in the 1940s.

I like your comparison, as the Harlem Renaissance was a big time in the music industry.
