This article is describing Obama's statements in the last couple of days since Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died. Republicans in the Senate have said that the president should not name a replacement since his term as president is coming to a close and the country is very divided about how the country should be run. The article describes the comments of a couple of important Republican senators, who are saying that the American public should have a chance to elect a new president and let that person make the decision about filling the spot on the Supreme Court. However President Obama explained that it is his right and responsibility given to him by the Constitution to nominate someone to fill that position, and that the Senate is responsible for considering that person and taking a vote without trying to drag it out to purposely try to wait for a Republican president to be elected and then nominate the Supreme Court replacement. The president plans to move quickly to nominate a Supreme Court justice to fill Scalia's spot.
