It Is Never Too Late To Dream
The first person to swim from Cuba to Florida without a protective cage while making a record setting swim is a sixty four year old woman named Diana Nyad. After five tries and not being successful until her last try, she has set a record of about 53 hours of swimming with no protective gear. Nyad has had many struggles and setbacks while trying to accomplish her 8 year old self dream of swimming across the straits of Florida. Even before these attempts, she was still a swimming sensation by being one of the first to swim around the island of Manhattan. The first time that she attempted to cross the straits of Florida was in 1978, but was unsuccessful. She tried four more times after that, and after many struggles with the ocean, she finally accomplished her almost life long dream after saying that this was going to be her last attempt. she commented about how dreams can still come true no matter what age you are.
This article seemed very inspiring and encouraging of how dreams can still come true even if many years have passed or you have grown old. It can very much support the saying of "dreams CAN come true." Normally after a person tries to accomplish something after one or two tries, they tend to give up because their dream seems to be out of reach or impossible to make come true. It also encourages people to never give up, even if it seems very hard. Also, that if you set a goal in your mind keep on persevering, even if it takes you longer than you planned it to take. Not everything goes according to plan, but that's just how life is. As if it were testing you on how long you can take to give up, meaning that it is never too late to dream.
I think that it's fantastic that after 5 tries that she finally made her dream come true. It's a blessing that on her last try that she succeeded. Swimming a total of 53 hours with only a swimsuit is amazing. I commend her.
