"Hillary Clinton on possible presidency: 'I'm realistic,' Carson Wright, 5th Period

Hillary Clinton, wife of democratic President Bill Clinton, was recently asked in a New York magazine interview about her position on possibly running for president in 2016. She said that she wrestles with the idea and that she is "both pragmatic and realistic," saying that she would do all she could from whatever office she may find herself in to improve the nation. Clinton is the presidential Democratic frontrunner according to recent polls, with 65% of Democrats and left-leaning independents agreeing that they want her as a presidential candidate. According to Bill Clinton, who was president from 1993 to 2001, the polls are flattering but "don't mean much now. We're a long way ahead." Likewise, Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State, said that she feels the country is focusing too much on the next big political move, what with the election three years away.

First and foremost, I hope for another Democratic president following the Obama Administration; that is the way to progress, socioeconomically and politically. Furthermore, Hillary would make an excellent president. Not that brilliance is inherently transferred by way of marriage, but the presidency of Bill Clinton was one of the light points to be found in America's dark history--no wars, robust economy, and the like--and I can't imagine anything better than a second Clinton Administration. The article, by Chealsea J. Carter, was published this past Sunday, and is feeding in to the media buzz surrounding a potential presidential candidacy. It, and the many others like it, is exceedingly relevant to the American sociopolitical realm, as it pertains to the future of our nation's government. Still, both of the Clintons are wise in their contention that such should not be the primary focus at this point in time--we are in the middle of a presidency, and must focus on the tangible, non-politically orientated issues at hand.

  1. Carson, like always, your political eloquence makes me blush. I could not agree more with anything you said. I think we should all campaign for Carson to be president when he is of age. We need someone like you to sit in the oval office.

  2. I agree with Sam. Vote for Carson Wright! But anyways, a very informational article and I agree with your statement of progressing towards a Democratic government following Obama.
