Florida 'Hiccup Girl' found guilty of murder- Jessica Dicker

Internet sensation "Hiccup Girl" was found guilty of 1st degree murder on Friday. Her fame first came in 2007 when she had the non stop hiccups, after her name fading away from the news, we see it again in this murder trial. Jennifer Mee, now 22, met victim Shannon Griffin on an online dating site. They set up a meet up, an abandoned house, where Mee lured him to the back of the house and was shot by Mee's roommates Laron Raiford and Lamont Newton with .38 caliber revolver. Mee was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. She has 30 days to appeal this. As sad as this is, it's interesting to see what people will do to be in the spotlight. Mee might not of have that intention, but it's definitely how it was potrayed. Also, Mee never actually shot Griffin, however, she was charged with first degree murder, not and accomplice to murder. Justice was served, she didn't slip through that loophole like she thought she would. By Greg Botelho http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/20/justice/hiccup-girl-murder-verdict/index.html?hpt=us_c2

  1. I would like to know a lot more about this story. Seems to me you're taking the side of what the courts deemed as guilty. What was her reasoning for shooting the man, and why did she get such a harsh sentence when the gun was not in her hands? What about the other person that did the shooting? Remember, everybody deserves a defense, even if society makes them seem like a monster, doesn't mean society didn't make them that way by being monsters themselves.

  2. I'm a little confused by this article. Was Mee thinking that "oh I'm an internet sensation they won't lock me up" or..I don't know. But if that's what she was thinking, that was a pretty bad idea seeing as how I didn't even know who she was until I read this article.

  3. I honestly don't think that this woman did any of this just to prolong her fifteen minutes of fame. In any case, there is no excuse for murder, or catalyzing it, so she should have some sort of punishment.

  4. I don't understand her motive for killing this man. And to have the ability to get her two roommates in on it and do her dirty work, she must have a valid reason for committing murder. Right? Also, why would you ever decide to meet someone you met on the internet at an abandoned house. Does that not sound a little bit like every single stereotypical warning about talking to strangers on the web?
