"I don't know the last time, if ever, that this has happened" on the Chicago Transit Authority system, spokesman Brian Steele said. It's being questioned if anyone climbed onboard and started the train, that's the only way the train could have been moved. "In order for a train to move, it has to be energized," said Ronald Ester, vice president of CTA Rail Operations.
"We call it unlocking the master controller," he said. The train would have needed to be placed in power position manually. Authorities said, they were going to check the cameras and interview the workers.
I just think this is crazy, how does a train mysteriously go onto the railroad. Someone had to have had moved the train it isn't going to just move by itself. Not only was it moved but it also injured 48 people and sent them to the hospital. CTA Rail Operations needs to do some serious investigating on this story!
