"Modeling Dream Comes True for Karrie Brown, Girl With Down Syndrome" - Natalie H. - Class 2

The article was created by Liz Fields and Katie Kindelan. Liz Fields I know is a designer for bridesmaid dresses, and Katie is an active blogger. These are the kinds of people who are always up to date with what’s hip and happening. The article was featured 20 hours ago on Good Morning America.

Who Katie and Liz found is a real gem....a girl with a smile that can light up the room in the dark, and an aspiring model. Her name is Karrie Brown, a 17-year-old girl who currently gigs at Wet Seal. This past month she was discovered via her FB page by Wet Seal, a fashion company utterly smitten with her.  Yasmin Ezaby from Wet Seal told ABC news that, “She immediately caught our attention. We  then asked our fans to get Karrie's Facebook page to 10k likes and we would give her the trip of a lifetime. She exceeded this goal in two days."

I find this article significantly important because gives hope to our generation. A model is person who serves as an example, whose behavior is emulated by others. A model isn’t based on how we appear physically. Seeing a fair skinned, bleached-blonde, 20-something year old woman in magazines can become and eye-sore after a while. People of all colors, ages, shapes and sizes should deserve to shine.  It’s all fair game, really. And Karrie just proves that.
