In Lake Charles, Louisiana, Woodrow Karey, a 53-year old church deacon, was arrested for the second-degree murder of Pastor Ronald Harris. Pastor Harris was in the middle of his sermon when Karey fired the first shot around 8:20 p.m. The pastor fell to the floor, but Karey shot him a second time before fleeing the church.
Later that evening, Karey surrendered, calling the sheriff's office and confessing his crime. The shooter led the deputies to the guns he left on the floor in the church. One of the weapons was a pistol, and the other was a shotgun, according to the police. The police have not announced which weapon was used in the shooting.
