John Sutter's article "mucking
around with climate change" evidently states his opinion concerning the
acknowledgment and action to the rapid climate change. He states that the blind
eye is not Obama's fault rather than it being Congress's lack of action to his proposal.
Instead we find other countries informing us on climate change like U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
continues to update all of us on the latest science and evidence. The matter is
not being publicized as serious as it ought to be, for the example used in the
article about a small island deteriorating off the coast of mainland
Alaska drew out the oncoming consternation of change in the U.S. Sutter
continues to accentuate the details pertaining to the people on the island, the
fear it arouses and describes the U.S. society to be running around
with its eyes shut.
The articles acknowledgment about Obama not being
the only power that factors into our national focus on climate control but
Congress response to it too provides a significant point to both the
citizens and the environmentally driven. Knowing who is for and against the
movement will aid environmentalist to apply to the most adequate functions for
the loudest adjustment. The shame is for the island near Alaska. The people who
inhabit the area will be forced to relocate long before the circumstances on
climate change and its control evolve into a conclusive situation. However, our
government may apply their focus elsewhere, we the people can still make an
impact reducing, reusing and recycling the existing materials and products
we have.
Truth be told, climate change and other environmental issues should certainly not be shirked and left out of public view. No doubt, President Obama is utilizing social media and other forms of mass communication to get the word out about global warming, even employing a new hashtag: #ScienceSaysSo. And I agree with you--while our government may be focused on more immediate sociopolitical issues, we as citizens can certainly do our part to help the environment.
