Is it just a wrecking ball or is Miley wrecking her reputation?

ABC News
reports Miley’s dramatic break down during her performance of her hit “Wrecking
Ball” at the iHeartradio festival in Las Angeles. Tears rolled down her cheeks
taking mascara with them creating black lines, Miley rushed to find her mom
offstage and sought solace whilst crying. The populous believes that the
origins of this song are rooted in her recent break up with fiancé, Liam
Hemsworth. ABC News also commented on her scandalous music video for “Wrecking
Ball” and her even more provocative performance at the recent music awards
show. Liam and Miley had been dating since 2009 and their relationship appeared
to be on the rocks by 2012.
The
histrionic lives of celebrities never seemed to catch my attention throughout
the first 17 years of my life, and today is no difference mind you. This
article appeared to be worth my time because I had been noticing how awful the
press is toward Miley and no one besides a mass murder deserves that type of attention.
I remember when she had that god-awful
show on Disney channel that I watched as a guilty pleasure because there was a
really cute guy in it, and I couldn’t understand how a twelve-year-old girl had
caused such a huge scandal, I seemed to forget that famous people age.
I then watched her video of the song “Wrecking
ball” and realized what was making people so upset. Miley is actually conveying
emotion through this video and how ever cheesy this may sound, the video
actually makes the viewer understand her pain. Under no circumstance would I show
the video to a person under the age of 13, but Miley is not making this video
for that audience she is making it to connect with people who have given boys
everything and gotten nothing in return. By watching this video it was easy for
me to see how hard it would be for her to sing a song about her boyfriend of
four years without breaking down. This goes to show that even the most know
people are still gravely misunderstood. It also goes to show how messed up our government
is when the top headline is about a breakup not about the innumerable crisis in
the world.

Miley speaks to me.
ReplyDeleteI appreciating the consideration to Miley's bearings and history in her current video.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Miley deserves all the bad press either. I applaud her and her ability to go through such a drastic change and break away from her stereotypical Disney child star persona. I'm one of the few people who actually became more of a fan after her change and enjoy her music and style. I think that Miley deserves all the attention she's getting but that it should be positive attention, not negative.
