Nia Edwards- Pennsylvania priest caught with pantless 15-year-old on college campus

 Current Event #4
 Nia Edwards

On September 20th, 2013 at 10:57 PM, Kevin Conlon wrote an article about a Pennsylvania priest. According to the article, Rev. W. Jeffrey Paulish was found in a parked car with a partially clothed fifteen year old boy. The 56 year old man told the police that he had "arranged the meeting with the teen through the "casual encounters" section of Craigslist. Paulish also told investigators that he had asked the boy three times if he was over the age of 18."  Rightfully so, Paulish was put in jail for indecent contact with person under 16, indecent exposure, and corruption of a minor. This man has been removed from his position at the Prince of Peace parish and was suspended from his priesthood.

I can't believe that someone who has chosen to be under God would do something so obscene. This man should have known better to not pursue those actions and it makes me sick that he would try to justify himself by saying that he thought the kid was 18. On the other hand, I'm glad that the Diocese of Scranton kicked him off from his post because other children should not be exposed to that man. I find it comforting that this man has been put in Lackawanna County jail on $50,000 bail because I'm sure no one would want to pay much money to get him out.

  1. I see nothing inherently wrong with getting a date off of Craig's List, besides it being amazingly pathetic. The fact that the priest would rape this guy is an insult to Christianity, and proves that religion can be a bag of empty promises even to those that preach it. In todays world everything is for money, nothing has any value but the dollar sign attached to it.

  2. This article really proves that you can't judge a book by its cover. These type of things happen very often, and so often it occurs with people who claim to have strong faith in religion, and are trusted by people. This article really makes you question who you should trust your kids with, no matter how trustworthy they may seem. Even if this man didn't know the guy was 15, WHY would anyone do something like that on a college campus? -Nana Johnson 2nd Period

This is so shocking and absolutely pathetic. How can some who has devoted their whole life to God do such a thing. It is very shocking.
