Current Event: Thomas Williams, the father of Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Dan Williams, was killed in a car accident this weekend as he traveled to New Orleans to watch his son play.

A Cardinals spokesperson tells USA Today that Dan Williams' mother and sister were also in the car, but survived the crash. The Williams family is from Memphis, Tenn., which is about a six-hour drive from New Orleans.

Dan Williams did not play in the Cardinals' 31-7 loss to the Saints on Sunday. 

In this time of a great tragedy, the Cardinals' official team Twitter account says it all.

 

Analysis: This is so sad ,his dad died in a car accident on the way to his game. He could've also lost  his mom and sister because they were also in the car at the time of the accident. Thankfully they survived the accident and are currently okay, just sadden my the lost of there father and husband.
