In Brookhaven, New York, a man has been found to have around 850 snakes in his garage, including two six foot pythons! He had been running a business of selling these creatures for a couple of years, and even had a business named "Parrinello's Snakeman's Exotics". The two pythons were sent to live in a conservatory in Massachusetts, but nobody knows what's going to happen to the other snakes.
As I was looking for articles to do for this post, I saw this one and was immediately drawn in. What kind of person has that many snakes just living in their garage? He admitted that he had over $500,000 worth of inventory in there. That means that there was $500,000 worth of not only snakes, but turtles as well. This made me wonder... How big was that guy's garage? It must have been massive.
But to be more serious about this, I really wonder what's going to happen to those snakes that weren't sent to Massachusetts. I'm a bit of a snake lover, so it makes me sad to know that there's 848 snakes left without a home. But it makes me happy that they are out of this guy's garage, because I'm sure that they were not being well taken care of in there.
It's also kind of interesting how it was not discovered earlier that he had that many snakes living in his garage. Wouldn't you think that at least someone would have noticed that he had that many snakes living in his garage? He must have been pretty incredible at hiding them, because his business unfortunately blossomed. But, in any case, he's in jail, and the snakes will hopefully be put in a good place.

I don't think I would consider myself a snake lover, but I do feel that living animals deserve to live well and in good conditions. These particular snakes must have been very cramped and in small cages, which is sad. I hope that they all find good homes. Even if they are snakes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Aliyah. Snakes actually terrify me, but being a vegetarian I completely support animal rights. No animal should be subjected to those kinds of living conditions! What interests me is how that man walked into his garage without screaming! I would have hated to be the officers investigating his house.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I wouldn't say that I love snakes, I agree with Aliyah and Mckay and think the snakes should have a better life than this. I hope they go to better homes and live out their lives with a higher quality of life.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am terrified of snakes, I do believe they should be treated fairly, and what I mean is let the snakes go back to their natural habitat. It'd be cruel to just wipe out the rest of the snakes as some snakes can be completely harmless. I do hope the best for the snakes.
