Leslie Vasquez- Trump Administration to Define "Transgender" Out of Existence

As of October 21, the Trump Administration is considering to define gender as something that is proven biologically and determined by the person's genitalia at birth. This is being called the most drastic government-wide effort to remove any protection or right for the transgender community. During the Obama administration, many laws were passed so that the transgender community may be able to feel safe at school and receive medical attention without being hindered by their gender identity. Many people under Trump's administration say that the lack of clarity of the laws made by Obama's administration had "wrongfully extended civil rights protections to people who should not have them."

I am completely angered by this. This is basically a slap in the face for the transgender community; they are going to have every right that they have fought so explicitly hard for the past few years in a blink of an eye. This is not okay and it will never be okay. It invalidates the identities of people who know who they are as a person and how they want to express themselves. Nobody has the right to take away someone's personal identity and say that it should be defined by "science" or be in the norm of the general public. If someone says they identify a certain way, let them be. You cannot change who they are and you cannot take away something that you do not understand.

  1. That is so crazy that he would do that. I miss Obama the person that cared for all people. I hope that he would get overruled by someone and he sees what he is doing wrong.

  2. I find this to be so messed up. I think people should be able to express themselves in their own way.Like you said nobody should be able to take someones personal identity away.Nobody knows who someone really is and especially someone who doesn't understand. -Lesly Marquez

  3. I know we’ve had some problems with people not respecting trans people at Booker T and honestly I’m worried it’ll get worse now that the president is being moreso openly ignorant about this subject
