Jude Holland- Suspected Murderer Police Officer shot and killed near Atlanta

This week, 18 year old Tafahree Maynard, the suspected killer of Atlanta Police Officer Antwan Toney was shot and killed after being found in a suburban shed behind a house. After he was approached in a shed by police after setting up a perimeter around the suspect's area, he refused to follow verbal commands. After a taser was drawn by an officer, he pulled a lawnmower blade out from behind his back, and was shot. Local police chief Butch Ayers stated that the "threat to the community is over". The reasons for why Maynard shot Officer Toney is still unclear, and he had also been convicted of aggravated assault and theft.

Analysis: I think this is another convincing story as to why we need better gun control laws. If someone is seen as dangerous, and has previously committed a crime, they shouldn't be granted the right (2nd Amendment) to bear arms. Gun control in this country needs to be reformed, and although is has been a right to own guns since the 18th century, when the original amendment was written, society was very different. Todays guns are more deadly, and although we can choose to own guns, the buying, selling and types of guns you can buy needs to be regulated and approached from a reasonable standpoint.
