This past Saturday Pierre-Yves Fumery (a french priest) was found dead from suicide in his home in Gien. Just the week before an accusation surfaced about the priest sexually assaulting a girl when she was fifteen, as recorded by the AFP (Agence France-Presse). Many people have made formal complaints against the priests inappropriate behavior and attempted assault to young girls between ages 13-15. Many sexual assault accusations have been made against the catholic church just in the last couple of months. In fact last month another french priest committed suicide after being accused of sexual misconduct and assault. An 18 month investigation has concluded that there have been over 1000 victims of sexual assault against the catholic churches in one state alone, with at least a 1000 more that havent been uncovered.
This article was written by Eli Rosenberg on October 22 2018. The article eloquently states the facts with no personal opinions, which proves that the article is truthful and unbiased. The story not only focusses on Pierre-Yves Fumery's case, but also brushes on many other cases that are similar, which connects a web of accusations all across the world. I found this article to be extremely interesting considering all of the recent coverups made by some of the leaders in the Catholic church. This specific event reminds me of the french revolution and the storming of the Bastille in 1789. The french commoners (the victims of sexual assault) stand up for there own rights and for what they believed to be true against the political leaders, that were corrupt wrong in there treatment of there faithful people (the sexual assaulters in the Catholic church).

This is a very sad situation and sad for the church and for the people impacted. It is awful that a religious leader who people trust would do something like this and then it gives all priests a bad reputation, though not all are bad people.
