Almost Half of U.S. Births Happen Outside Marriage, Signaling Cultural Shift-Daviah Harrison
This article was written by Riley Griffin on October 17,2018 and it states that 40% of all births are happening outside of wedlock in the U.S. Data shows that births in the U.S. and in European Union are usually with unmarried couples living together rather than to single mothers. This is a long term trend among developing nations and now most women choose to have their babies later in life, like 27 years old.Women are delaying motherhood in order to focus on their career, which impacts this trend.
I believe this article was written to inform people about the change that is happening instead of scolding people for what is happening. Not so long ago, this was looked down upon by so many people based on their religious beliefs and norms, but now it is a very common thing that happens. I am even starting to see a lot of celebrities have babies outside of marriage. This could be a relief to people who do have babies outside of wedlock because now they don't have to stress about what (most)people may think of them. This is a great article and I think its interesting to be living in a time where something like this is changing.
