Two hours
ago, Samuel Chamberlain published an article regarding a Virginia resident that
was beaten to after trying to intervene with a sexual assault. Patricio Salazar,
54, was killed by 27-year-old Michael Nash in that fatal night. Nash was
walking with a woman when he allegedly began to physically and sexually assault
her. The witness, Salazar, saw the assault and tried to help the victim. This unfortunately
ended with the death of the man.
Another witness, Brad Flood, stated "I saw a girl, unclothed,
sitting there curled up in a ball. And she was the one screaming," said
Flood, who added that Nash confronted and threatened him. He also explained “Don’t
call the cops. You call the cops, I will end your world,” then he said,
"He came enough into the light that I could see a bunch of blood on his
fists."
Nearly immediately afterwards,
Flood said he saw Salazar laying on the ground.
This situation has brought an
entirely new level to current events. This circumstance shows the dangers that
not only the assault victim faces, but anyone who stand up for them faces as
well.
It's honestly a terrible situation and is probably the reason people second guess or don't try to help the victim being assaulted.
ReplyDeleteThis is another very sad situation and it is awful that someone goes out of their way to help someone in need and ends up losing his life. I hope this doesn't deter people from helping out those in need in the future.
ReplyDeleteThis is truly heartbreaking, and I especially hope this doesn't stop people from reaching out and helping. I just hate the way this one ended. -kloe rhoden
ReplyDeleteThis is terrible, and this is probably why people don't usually help others that are being assaulted which we should all do something about
