Puerto Rico hit by blackouts

Puerto Rico is still trying to restore power more than five months after Power 4 Hurricane Maria. It still continues to be one of the longest blackouts in United States history. On Sunday, February 11, 2018 a fire emerged from a substation, which was quickly extinguished. Officials said the explosion knocked two other substations offline and caused a total loss of 400 megawatts worth of generation. San Juan Mayor Carmen Cruz posted on Twitter that no injuries had been reported and that power was slowly being restored in some areas of the city. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
The United States should become more involved in helping Puerto Rico rebuild its territory. Puerto Rico doesn't receive much publicity on how slowly the territory is rebuilding and how unstable it became after the fire.

  1. I agree that the U.S. should help out Puerto Rico more. It is evident that Puerto Rico needs all the help it can get, and we should be there in this time of need.
