A gunman killed his brother. Now Farris Barakat is on an American journey.
In February 2015 Deah Barakat was killed by a gunman (along with his wife). Deah was Farris' brother. They were very close, and Deah's death completely Farris' life. Farris now hopes to continue and fullfil Deah's dreams of making a more tolerant and peaceful America. Farris has now opened "The light house" (a house that serves as a center for the youth--gathering place), and by trying his best to imrpove relations between Muslims and the community. He dreams of unity, and follows in Deah's footsteps to achieve this.
I find this story to be very inspiring. Rather than being mad at the world for the death of his brother, Farris used his brother's dream to remember him.
