Summary: Today, President's day, a group of students took place in a "lie-in" outside of the white house to protest gun violence and demand reform. It started by having 17 people lie down to represent those killed in the Florida shooting. They called it a necessity for the legislatures to act by decreasing these awful events. "Students need to feel safe in their classrooms" Even though the ground was wet and this was a holiday, the students and demonstrators took it upon themselves to be politically active and engaged. They only hope that people and legislators will act upon this.
Analysis: Having a group of young people demonstrate such a moving act of protest hopefully will move people to make a difference and contribute to the end of gun violence. Also, the event being publicized I hope makes a difference and brings attention to gun control. I don't know how much has to happen before something is actually done.
