Record numbers of stink bugs are on the rise, and scientists report, this is more than we have ever had in history. Stink bugs, an invasive species that thrives off warm climates, are blooming in their population. Usually these insects feast for spring and summer and hibernate during winter; Typically living inside people's houses. But with the rise of global temperatures, the stink bugs populations are growing. Michael Raupp, an entomologist, says that "trillions and billions of stink bugs [are being born] nation-wide". The cure for these pesky critters? Simply sealing up your home as tight as possible.
Within the past few years, temperatures around the world have risen tremendously and because of this, certain species are dealing with it in different ways. Most insects do well when cultured in warmer temperatures, and this is the main cause for the insane stink bug population. Climate change is becoming a huge deal and the temperatures of our world have slowly increased ever since the Industrial Revolution, when some of the greatest contributors of greenhouse gases were introduced into our daily lives. Though global warming can be prevented, most United States citizens are not ready to give up many of their commodities to save our future planet. The rise of stink bugs is a small consequence to a global catastrophe that has been in a wraps for hundreds of years.
This is just wild. The Earth is gonna stink bad real soon if we don't stop global warming. I think this just demonstrates how global warming affects and harms the delicate ecosystems of the Earth, and can cause discomfort for humans as well as animals.
ReplyDeleteglobal warming is a horrible and serious thing and i think that people should honestly do something about it. but people havent which upsets me.

ReplyDeleteWe've turned away from the truth regarding how we take care of our planet. It's a serious issue that's easy to shun, but we really need to do something about it and step up.
This is exactly why we need to start talking about global warming even more and why people who have a position of power need to speak up and do something about it. If we don't do anything, things will continue to get worse.

ReplyDeleteDUUUUUDE!!!!!!!!! At a meet on Monday One of our runners/ friends literally saw a stink bug, then they complained about the smell. I wasn't close so I didn't smell anything. Anyway if this is a sign of global warming I think the first step we should make is to kill all the stink bugs..... and cockroaches...... and spiders. I just hate bugs. But I want to know what I hate more- killing out planet. I hope that with this discovery we decide to act on fixing up planet Eath.
yo stink bugs are wild global warming is real guys stinky
ReplyDeleteThis is kinda like the story about how so many cicadas are coming out of their shells years early because changes in Earth's climate have thrown them all out of wack. Shame that we're trading the cicadas for stinkbugs.
