During a hurricane relief benefit concert in Texas, featuring all five living former Presidents (Jimmy Carter, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama), Bush Jr. was spotted making a joke to Obama. Clinton was making a speech about the importance of coming together after the recent tragedies and Bush whispered a joke behind his back evoking a huge grin from former President Obama. The charade garnered lots of positive attention on social media.
After all of the political strife that we have been seeing in the past few months, it was nice to see these presidents, all with very differing opinions, come together to support a common cause, and to have some fun during the process. When you turn on the news today, it is hard to believe that anybody with differing opinions would be able to even associate with each other much less joke around. I would hope to see more of this in the coming months with our current leaders and officials.

Even Republicans like Obama. Trump's only friends are his golf clubs, and they still spill tee about him (ahhh golf puns).
ReplyDeleteI think that Obama and Bush getting along is important for Americans to see, and if the two of them with completely opposite points of view can get along, then the rest of us can get along too. We don't have to be a country divided by political parties, but we can be one group of American people.
