The U.S. is to send 200 extra troops to Iraq to help in the fight against the IS (Islamic State). Alongside these troops there will be Apache helicopters deployed. $400 million in assistance will be given to Kurdish Peshmerga forces fighting IS on the ground. The Apache helicopters would help Iraqi forces to recapture the country's second city of Mosul. IS has seized large parts of Iraq, but Iraqi forces have recaptured significant ground from the jihadists in recent months.
This article was written as an update on U.S. relations in Iraq and its part played in the war on the Islamic State. This event reminds me of when the U.S. and several other allies agreed to come to each others' aid when in a conflict. The U.S is coming to Iraq's aid in the fight against the IS, and providing them with the supplies and material they need.

I am glad the U.S. is helping, I just hope we don't repeat history and go into debt.
ReplyDeleteI hope we don't have another Hussein-type incident
