The United States has promised the Iraqi government an additional two hundred American troops as well as eight Apache helicopters in order to aid the Iraqi military take Mosul, a northern city in Iraq. President Obama has stated that the supporting troops would not be doing any of the actual fighting, but would rather provide training and other support for the Iraqi troops.
First off, I am opposed to any of the American military involvement in the Middle East. I see it as unnecessary and wasteful in terms of lives as well as innumerable other precious resources. That being said, I also believe that America owes it to the Middle East to help fix the broken government there. It is not only the case with the Middle East, but also with Russia and with North Korea, that it is primarily because of American involvement and intervention in an attempt to appear "strong" that these nations have such an enmity for America.

I agree with your opinion, I don't really see the point in sending more troops to Iraq. If they aren't fighting what are they doing? -Mattie Whisler 9th period Flex
ReplyDeleteI agree. Sometimes withdrawal is the best means for the deflation of a crisis.

ReplyDeleteIt`s good that the U.S. is sending troops to Iraq to help their troops, but sometimes the U.s. needs to learn when and when not to interfere in othercountries problems and then we wouldnt even have most of the problems we face today.
