Saturday in Portoviejo, Ecuador, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake broke out and killed over 300 people in a matter of minutes. The oil-bearing city was devastated to learn it would cost several billion dollars to rebuild the city, and many trucks carrying supplies and aide for the victims was robbed by armed men and taken away from the city, leaving many more stranded and without supplies necessary for survival.
What happened is horrible and the lack of support is disgusting. They sent in only a single small truck of supplies (which was stolen) and did nothing else, as the only reason most nations care about the town at all is for it's natural resources. Hopefully this city gets the support it needs soon, this was a horrible tragedy that nobody should have to go through.
