Summery: A police officer claims that a teen assaulted him with a baseball bat, so he killed the teen. Because of the assault, the cop suffered trauma and is sueing the teens estate for at least 10 million. A civilian was accidently shot as well as the teen. People heavily criticized the Chicago police department for their culture of "shoot first, ask questions later". LeGrier's father filed a lawsuit as well, and the officer was surprised by this. Based upon the evidence, LeGrier should win. The 19 year old had been prescribed medication for emotional problems. After all of this, the lawsuit said that if the police officer didn't use deadly force, the officer would be dead.
Analysis: After all of the stories of police brutality, such as the Travon Martin, Sarah Bland, and Rodney King, it is difficult to believe a story that the police officer is actually in the right. Although this officer was clearly defending himself, he could have taken other precautions, such as shooting him in the shoulder, arms, or legs. Also, the fact that he killed an innocent old woman, proves that police officers are not obtaining proper gun training. The shots must be precise and accurate, otherwise, a police officer should not be issued a gun. It is very scary being within the presents of a police officer, because there are too many bad cops who abuse their power. Not only is it scary for minorities, but also women. There have been cases where police men pull over women and rape them! We need to get trustworthy, honest cops, so if a cop is actually in trouble, we can believe him/her.

I agree, it's hard to believe that a cop is completely innocent. He killed an innocent woman which doesn't seem like self defense. Why are the cops always shooting to kill?
