Summary:
Casey Mincey, inmate at Sawinsboro Prison in Georgia arrested for identity fraud, has come forth claiming to have been raped six times by Supervisor Capt. Edgar Daniel Johnson. She claims that although her initial interactions with him were innocent, it quickly spiraled into touching and eventually to her being raped. Besides her, two other women have come forth claiming also that Johnson had raped them, and these claims are being thoroughly investigated as of right now.
Analysis:
Unfortunately, cases such as Casey Mincey's are not particularly uncommon. It is easy for someone to take advantage of their position in the system to preform illegal acts such as rape or even "justified" murder. The reforms with Dorothea Dix advocated for so long ago have certainly improved the lives of prisoners and inmates, but not the minds of those who would do something so wrong.
