Columbine shooter's mother speaks out-Nicholas Watson, 9th

Summary:
The mother of one of the teens involved in the 1999 Columbine massacre, the deadliest high school shooting United States history, says she saw no signs of her sons murderous personality ahead of the shooting. In her first television interview after the shooting, Sue Klebold apologized on her son's behalf. In an interview with the 20/20 news show, Ms. Klebold said she has lived in guilt since that day 17 years ago. She continues by saying how she will never be able to get of the guilt and how apologizing for her son's actions would never become remotely close to being enough.

Analysis:
Although I wasn't alive to witness this tragic event, I have witnessed, through the years, a the ripple effect it caused and it's almost inspirational vibe it has given off that has lead to a surge of school shooting and other public massacres. Although I have, thankfully, not felt loss like those family and friends of the victims of Columbine, I do understand how absolutely devastating it was and has been. Although in situations like these people affiliated with the victims aren't the only ones who suffer emotionally, but so do the families of those who commit these horrible acts. Imagine waking up everyday, knowing that someone you raised and love with all of your heart has murdered innocent people, a contradiction of love and the law, tearing you apart emotionally. I couldn't even imagine how the parents of these murderers are able to continue day after day, with so many questions and the constant guilt of wondering if they could have done something to prevent this and the continuous burden that they will carry for the rest of their lives just seems completely overwhelming. Events like Columbine  can be related to the shootings at Virginia Tech and Sandy Hook.

  2. Even good people can go bad, unfortunately we will never get a solid answer as to why this all happened.
