Australia Asylum Policy
Recently, a court challenge has been brought to Australia over there harsh conditions in insane asylums. This is a disadvantage to refugees seeking for asylum and help. The desolate island of Nauru is expected to serve as a detention camp for the 250 asylum seekers that will now be deported from the mainland; while there the refugees will have their asylum claims processed.
This is very similar to what Dorthea Dix doing in trying to allow asylums to take better care of their patients. The fact that refugees cant go to asylums and that the conditions are very bad, is terrible for everyone. I believe the island of Nauru should not be in service due to the fact that its isolated location enables such an abusive and violent environment to exist in the first place. What do you think? Is Nauru a necessary factor to Australia's asylum process or is it an unnecessary and even harmful measure to regulating the incoming refugees?
