Obama grants.....- Londyn Alexander pd:flex
http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/18/politics/obama-prison-sentences-commute-drugs/index.html
President Obama commuted the sentences of 95 criminals, who were charged with drug offenses. Many of them who were commuted had been served with life sentences, the president stated " Men and Woman are not hardened criminals." Claiming that the convicts crimes did not match their punishments in severity. The president also granted two individuals pardons who were later identified to be Jon Girard and Melody Homa. The difference between these two actions is that a pardon completely erases your crime while commutation only lessens your sentence.
I think this a really cool thing, that I didn't even know existed. I'd never heard of this taking place before and would like to know if it is an annual event? I think its good allowing many of prisoners a second chance at life and opportunity for them to reinvent themselves. I do think the number is a bit large, but other than that I really love this.
