Swimming 110 miles

Diana Nyad is the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida without the need of a cage. She has attempted 4 times in the past. One in 1978, and the three attempts in from 2011-2012. Her journey from Cuba started on Saturday, August 31st 2013. It took her 53 hours to arrive to Key West Florida. The 110 mile path was an unforgettable one as she received congrats from The President Obama along with other celebrities including Ryan Seacrest. The 64 year old woman said "We should never, ever give up.  You're never too old to chase your dreams". It's an unbelievable task, but she managed to finish and accomplish her goal.

I tend to get tired very easy, and I'm in my "prime" age of 16. Us as teens we should, in theory, be more athletic than your typical adult. What Nyad did is truly jaw dropping. Not only did she swim 3 days straight, but she did it at the age of 64. She also didn't swim in your typical neighborhood pool, but she swam in the Gulf of Mexico, where I'm sure a lot of key factors were involved. The sun was on her back the whole time causing her to get sunburned, there's plenty of fish and etc. She is a prime example of whom we should all look up to. Her first attempt was back in '78, and it took her 30 plus years to finish her goal.
We all fail at one point in our lives, but we should keep trying. You're never too old for anything. You can do it if you try and persevere to the end.

  1. I agree wholeheartedly, what she did was truly amazing and for her to fail once and to attempt again is a showing of her true character. I get tired of being in the pool for 30 minutes, three whole days in water is amazing. She must be pruned forever!!
