In
my article, Who’s Really Left Out Of The
CrossFit Circle, by Gene Denby, a recent conversation regarding race in
CrossFit gyms, a popular workout genre, is discussed. The article explores
CrossFit headquarters sharing a post that discussed the anti-black nature of
CrossFit. This shared post was from a racist blog called Stuff Black People
Don’t Like. The company issued an apology for the post and explained how the
page often shares articles simply for discussion. While these gyms may not be
directly racist, many have spoken out on the fact that they are extremely
white. However, individuals have made claims that their gyms are diverse.
This
story was written by an American and posted on NPR’s website. This might add
some biases to the issue because of a slanted view of race relations. It was
posted on September 15th, which makes it especially relevant amongst
the conversation on modern-day racism in our country. Prior to reading this
article I was aware of almost entirely white businesses but not of this issue.
The article was written to inform Americans of a small but meaningful case
involving an alleged racial bias. After reading this article I wasn’t entirely
convinced that CrossFit is a racist company, however I feel more aware of the
fact that there still are many questions of equality in businesses in our
nation. This story is one example but the overall fight for equal inclusion is
vital in our country’s future.
Hey you know people make mistakes...I personally think and respect that they apologized and that people shouldnt just make assumptions...we all do...it happens
