Florida Dig at Former Reform School- Alexa Almaguer 4th Period

Summary: In Marianna, Florida current graduate students and alumni of the University of South Florida came across the remains of unidentified children at a dig on Sunday. The remains were found within the grounds of an old, Florida reform school. Now senior citizens, students of the Dozier School for Boys have brought up  many stories of abuse, killings, and disappearances of students at the school ranging from the 1940's-1960's. The archaeologists and anthropologists of The University of South Florida hope to have the bodies reunited with their loved ones for a reburial.

Analysis: The CNN article was written by Rich Phillips who informs us on the recent dig in Florida, in which dozens of children's bodies were found. The bodies remain unidentified at the moment. The main idea of this article is about, as John Due says,"Digging up the past to build a better future." The finding of the children's bodies will help to give all of the families much needed closure. The University of South Florida team was able to uncover a coffin handle as well as hardware. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has launched an investigation to clear up the mystery of what happened to the dozens of students.
