Felicia Padilla 5th period: Will Syria Fight Back?
Summary: The Article from CNN is titled "Could Syria Strike Back if the U.S attacks?" The article discusses and explains the threat that Syria poses not only to the United Stares of America but also to other foreign aircrafts. Currently, the United States along with its allies are debating over whether or not they should take military action in Syria. In response to the threat Syria's president, Bashar-al-Assad has claimed that Syria will defend itself against any military actions. The prime minister of Syria has also inferred that the nation is armed and ready. These comments have raised concerns such as "what could Syria do to retaliate in the event of strikes by international forces, and who might be in range?" Taking all of this into consideration it is still expected that if the US were to attack they would use weapons that are able to be fired from very long distances away, so as not to have anyone in the range of the "Syrian Systems."
Analysis: Just from reading this one Article over the US and Syria controversy it worries me that Syria may actually fight back against the United States' military forces. Now, I am not even sure I am in favor of the US going to war with Syria even with out the possibility of a retaliation. But with a very likely threat that the Syrian government will fight back I don't think the US should get involved with these particular foreign problems. Even thought the US believes it will be out of reach of Syrian missiles it does not take away from the fact that Syria does have very sophisticated weapons. Even though the US likes to help people they shouldn't put their own citizens and their safety at risk to help out another nation.

Hi Felicia!
ReplyDeleteI hope U.S and Syria can work something out hopefully. Going to war means putting our country in some debt, because with out a doubt we are going to be spending alot. Maybe the President can prevent this or address this threat appropriately. We certainly don't need to lose anymore of our valuable citizens.
