Walmart Workers Protest on Black Friday- Taiina Ayala

Everyone knows Black Friday could get a little crazy. But not everyone expected protests to add to the chaos. Walmart workers protests outside of stores nationwide for higher wages and better benefits. These workers were part of a labor union called OUR Walmart. Although the protests occurred, the numbers were far less than expected. Many workers didn't show up for the protests. Colby Harris, a Walmart associate from Lancaster Texas, said "Unfair labor is working full time and living in poverty, unfair labor is seeing your health care premiums skyrocket year after year. Unfair labor is being denied the hours needed to support your family. Unfair labor is being punished for exercising your freedom of speech and association."
I think it's great that these workers are excercising their fredom of speech to get what they want and deserve. I also think it was very smart of them to do it on Black Friday, although I doubt many people were affected by the protestors. I hope eventually these workers get what they demand!

  1. I agree that it is a good thing they are standing up for what they believe in, however, fighting fire with fire usually doesn't end up well....the Walmart workers just need to be careful about how they stand up for what is needed.
