A long case that looked like would never be solved, recently came to a close when a skeleton was found in Lake Grove, Long Island. This skeleton was found in the basement of a home, a home to a man who went missing 57 year ago. George Carroll went missing in 1961, six years after the family had bought the house. The excavation of the basement began a few years ago, and continued recently with new technology. Sadly, George’s two adult children discovered his remains in their own basement. His family is now recovering from the shock of finally knowing where he was, after 57 years. The only good thing that came from this is closure for the family.

This story reminds me of the Elisabeth Fritzl case. This girl spent 24 years in captivity 20 feet below her family. The difference between the situations here, are that we know that story of what happen to Elisabeth for all of those years. We unfortunately still have no idea how long George was in his own basement.
That sounds really scary. I can't even imagine what does the family feel. Every time I read about someone who is missing it makes me really sad. And in this case, its much sadder to hear that because then youre probably going to ask yourself: what happened to him in real, how many days he spend there..
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting case! The idea of finding a human skeleton decades after the body has died is amazing! (not for this man of course...)
