The article i chose is about footage that was footage that was found of Nyishia Corbitt leaving her apartment with her 22 month old, Alina Barnes. She was believed to be dead at that time then returning without the child. She was charged with murder in suffocation of the baby whose body was found, partially buried, in a public park with her head exposed. The police arrested her. She was also charged with making false reports and tampering with evidence.
This is a very interesting and devastating thing that Corbitt did. It stood out to me because it seems obsurbed to do to a child that you have been taking care of and to partially bury and suffocate her. This happened on Oct 9 so it's a very recent thing. This can connect with U.S History because of the other child killers in history. One was Dagbar Overbye who was a Danish serial killer who murdered twenty-five children, including her own child. Most of her targets were babies who were under her care, she was sentenced to death i 1921 and died in prison 8 years later.
I agree that this is devastating. It must take the mind of a sociopath to get to the point where killing your child seems like an acceptable act to commit. Also, seeing the head of a deceased baby poking out of the ground must be terrifying.
