Uber eats driver turns himself in after suspected of shooting customer- Isabella Hambleton

On Monday, an Uber eats driver was convicted of shooting a customer. The driver said he shot the customer as a method of self defense. The customer had placed an order through his smartphone and when the driver came to deliver it, he shot the customer, killing him. The driver was said to have shot the customer and then sped off. The driver was charged with a felony murder and is being sent to jail.
This is very scary to think about because a huge amount of people use services like this every day. The fact that a person was just ordering food on a normal day and then was shot and killed is crazy. Now that this has happened, I hope that the people hiring these drivers look more into their background and watch them more closely so things like this can be prevented.

  1. I don't see how this was self defense... Why did he think shooting a customer picking up food was self defense?? My parents do not let me use uber because of cases such as these. I agree that being more careful about who is hired could definitely prevent these kinds of situations.

It’s scary to think that now just by ordering food you can die. But I also agree with the fact that the company should look more into people background even though it can limit the amount of people who deliver and cause rates increase .

  3. London Hibbs- also makes you think about the fact that these people are literally in possession of things we would be consuming :/
