Recently numbers have been coming in concerning the percentages of people for and against several issues regarding gun control and mental health. The first was that 6 in 10 Americans felt dissatisfied with President Trump’s performance regarding the response to the Florida shooting earlier this week. This was due to the 78% of people that agreed there needed to be more barriers regarding mental health out in place to prevent future events from occurring. 50% also advocated for stronger gun rights, against a 46% opposition.
I think the first statistic that is really note worthy is the 50-46 split. Many who voted are advocating for a reinstatement of the ban that took assault rifles out of the picture from 1994 to 2004. This could be considered a stretch, however, as back then it was a 80-20 split. It’s something to keep in mind at least. I just wonder how this could or will affect Trump’s actions in the near future, and if he will try to satisfy both sides of the argument when he does them.
