Summary: In an exclusive interview with NBC, Vice President Mike Pence made a statement claiming that the U.S. would take whatever, "action is necessary to defend our homeland." This comes after a 3-4 month period in which the United States and North Korea went back and forth over North Korea's dangerous actions involving their nuclear missile program. The U.S. has chosen to delay their military exercises in the waters around Korea until after the Olympics conclude. However, Pence made it very clear that the U.S. and its allies will be able to defend themselves at a moment's notice.

Position: The U.S. has pursued North Korea legally, and rhetorically. Korea did nothing. Now, the U.S. must take strong action against North Korea in a militaristic manner. Not necessarily nuclear, but let them know that what they are doing is wrong.

  1. While I agree with letting North Korea know that we will ALWAYS be ready I disagree with the fact that Pence decided to bring it up now. The height of the Olympics is the fact that North and South Korea are uniting under the single flag of Korea-and act that's defied the last thirty years. We need to feed on the energy of unity not defy it.

  2. This wouldn't have to be a problem if No drama was even started in the first place. We shouldn't have to "be able to defend ourselves at moment's notice".
