Teenage snowboarder, Red Gerard, wins first team USA gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Gerard is 17 years old and won gold in the men’s slopestyle snowboarding. He became the youngest American man to win an Olympic Winter gold medal since 1928. He was sitting in 11th place, but wowed the judges with his amazing series of rails, ramps and huge jumps to beat other snowboarders from Canada. Gerard is also the first ever medalist at the Olympic Winter games born after January 1, 2000. The 17-year-old said that he can’t even believe that he made it to the Olympics and everything that is happening to him is just insane.
The 2018 winter Olympics located in PyeongChang are very significant to our country‘s history. It is already a big deal that Red Gerard is breaking records and representing America in an amazing way. Red Gerard will go down in our country‘s history as being the child prodigy snowboarder and for being the youngest gold medalist ever
That is so crazy that this guy is in high school and has a gold medal, makes me feel proud to be an American!
ReplyDeleteOlivia Wall- I think that being that young creates a gateway and an inspiration for people in our generation or younger. that is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI also wrote about this amazing win! I can't imagine how that would fee. A dream that seems so far.
