Henry Haas- The Hero of Russia

Earlier today yet another story was told involving the brutality that is now common place in the torn territories of Syria. A Russian air pilot was shot down by a portable air defense missile when patrolling the area that day. He landed deep in enemy territory. Records show that he survived the crash, but when he emerged from the wreckage he was immediately surrounded. He fought them off, but was easily overpowered, and in an effort to protect himself and his country, he blew himself up with a hand grenade. This prevented any information from slipping to the enemy forces. Russia has stated that this man will get the highest of honor in their country in the form of a medal, The Hero of Russia.

This is disgusting. Obviously this man gave his life because he knew that what he was doing was worth fighting for. This war has gone on way longer than it ever should have. Congress and our president need to work as one on this one, not separate but rather equal. Maybe with a unified effort we can cook up a way to end this display of hatred and violence that is ongoing across the world. It seems as of now that the government is putting this on the back burner. People like this young man are dying everyday for us, yet we seem to have forgotten the urgency of our influence in this struggle. It’s time to finally get back in there make progress happen. Not sit back and watch the country disintegrate even further. We’ve watched for too long already.
