Summary- As school and mass shootings continue to occur, it brings more heartbreak to families, and the Phillipses are doing something about it. Sandy and Lonnnie Phillips, lost their 24-year old day yesterday, Jessica Ghawi at the movie theater shooting in Aurora Colorado in 2012. They brings out that many families often mourn in private, confront politicians, or join gun-control groups and flock to rallies. However they feel it's more important to talk about how they're doing.
Analysis- I think it's horrible that shootings continue to happen, and I'm glad that help is being provided. However, in this article I read something very disturbing. After talking about how shooting survivors have yet to win any major victories on the federal level, they said "they do what they can, hoping that when the next mass shooting happens, more people will take to their cause." Isn't that twisted, why would they use "hoping?" If that's what they think will help settle the shootings then that's horrible, and my heart goes out to their families.

They shouldn’t have to worry about “the next mass shoooting”. So many innocent lives are taken away because of people who own guns for all the wrong reasons.

ReplyDeleteI agree with mica. Mass shootings have become such a normal thing that occurs in our society that people just hope for the best in the next one. Whether no people die or 100 pass away it shouldn’t happen and we need to enforce stricter gun laws

ReplyDeleteIt's great to see these people who have suffered so much try to make the world a little better by offering support in time of need.
