Tandy Harmon, mother of two from Portland, Oregon, went to the hospital because she feeling sick, but two days earlier felt totally fine as she prepared as maid of honor for a wedding. The hospital decided her diagnosis was the Flu, and just like most other people, sent her home.  After she was sent home, a day later, she went back to the hospital and was put on a ventilator. And three days later, at only the young age of 36, she passed.
Many are wondering why the doctors sent her home if she was severely sick. So many people died from the Flu this year after being told to go back home. A GoFundMe was set up for her children, who now live with their grandmother. It's been a struggle for everyone, because along with the two children, the grandmother has a husband suffering from dementia.
The black plague back in the middle centuries killed over a third of the population, just from rats carrying the disease. It's easy to blow off something that doesn't seem to be fatal, but it's important that we take care of ourselves. It's not selfish to want to stay home and recover, one small thing can spread like a wildfire if not careful.

The flu this year has caused many deaths and it is very upsetting that hospitals are turning away dying people. The hospital corporations need to take in to consideration that people from all over the world are getting the flu super fast and you never know how long it takes for it to kill them
ReplyDeleteThis is crazy to me. I can’t imagine what her family must be going through right now. My heart goes out to them all.
ReplyDeletei agree something more needs to be done
DeleteI also wrote my current event about the crazy flu season that this year has been, and its so sad to hear about all the people who are dying from the flu and hoping that it doesn't happen to you, a family member, or a friend.
